Introducing the Horizon Project 2008 to Qatar Academy

The Ning is a place for us as teachers to relate our pedagogical successes (and near misses) with our colleagues. This serves two main purposes: to share ideas, thoughts and reflections and foster an informed and interactive online learning community; to inform latest classroom applications and adventures in 21st century learning so that others may also know what is going on in the school (and the world) and make decisions as to whether all or part of the practice can be transferre… Continue

7 Things You Should Know About Ning......

I am always interested when a new '7 Things you Should Know....' help-sheet comes out from Educause. From their website it states: The "7 Things You Should Know About..." series from the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative (ELI) provides concise information on emerging learning technologies. Each brief focuses on a single technology and describes what it is, where it is going, and why… Continue

Hi Julie - Thanks for the welcome, perhaps we will meet up at the HK conference. Good luck in moving towards 1:1 mobile computing - it is a lot of work, but well worth it in the end. After 3 years of 1:1, we are still seeing an evolution in teaching and learning.

Hi will find out any day! Yes I joined this a few weeks ago to try and have a more direct link with what's happening over there. I do enjoy social networking and I mostly use Facebook; it's great for keeping up with my old students. At the moment I have ny Year 12 English students creating MySpace pages as text responses to the theme "Whose reality?" We are studying the film Fight Club and then Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind! Speak soon.

Uneventful, although chaotic and a very unattractive airport, to put it mildly!
Now back and dusted off with the desire to be like a good Scotch whiskey and DISTILL a bit.

Will post some "Mumbai Pics" shortly for the amusement of The Collective.

Tried to get on Twitter this morning in school and got this message
"Access to the requested website is restricted. If there is a business or an educational requirement to access it please contact the IT Service Desk at:"

I emailed them and told them we use to for educational puposes but thought you might need to know about this issue, thats if you don't already!

Julie,

I was reading a great blog post and was excited to hear about the great pd you have and the wonderful ning. I wanted to check it out and then realized it is for the educators at Qatar. (If I am not meant to be here I understand).

I must say I follow Kim Cofino's blogs as well as Vicki Davis' so have heard quite a bit about you. I am hoping to do collaborative projects and am just delving into project based classes this year. I am hoping to get better by reading what others are doing. There are no other teachers here doing what I am doing.

Punxsutawney is where the groundhog is and celebrated every year, but not where the movie was filmed.

Thanks so much for bringing Kim to us, I think a PD such as this one will give us motivation to move forward as a faculty in the area of ICT and the embedding of it within the deliver of our curriculum
