E-Learning For Life

Fostering a professional learning community in Qatar and beyond

How many of us have managed to consistently integrate one or more of the ideas that we were exposed to at the PD into our classroom?

I would love to hear so that we can learn from eachother.

My class blogs regularly...even though we are still learning...they are excited to share their thoughts. We have just started two voicethread projects - one with their 3D projects and one with their literature circles. I believe David blogs regularly as well. Jill :)

Good idea, do you want to send me something for tomorrow? Did you see how big today's was, hence my suggestion to grab a coffee first.

Perhaps you could include a equest in the MM for mails to Mike or a post to the ning from Gr2-5 since the action you speak of seems all over on your side.

I actually attended a KG parent meeting where the teacher was using Voice threads to demonstrate their child's reading ability in English, it was fantastic.. thanks also to you Robyn who created an amazing video presention of student IT work and photos for the KG performance. I have also been part of a plethora of emails back and forth here in the ECE, debating the best type of computer to order and which suits which grade levels and their needs. I believe there is still an after glow, but I do like Sean's idea of sharing what people are using that is working and how they are using it. The most powerful inormation we have is that, that can be shared.

I had heard about the voice thread. Is the Delicious unit based? How are they using the wiki, is this with students?

HI

Just a quick comment about things that teachers in the ECE have been doing. Several have been using Delicious consistently and coming and asking for more help with the it. Two teachers have produced Voice Threads with their classes and a few are using the Wiki on a weekly or even daily basis.

Sean, you have raised an excellent point....how the 'afterglow' wears off and how we need to be working towards truly embedding new approaches and uses of ICT into what we do everyday as educators.
How many now use Delicious everyday?
How many use Twitter?
How many have explored the educational use of wikis further? ..to the extent that a wiki-centric classroom is being developed?

What is the next step to 'bring back' or continue to foster that glowing feeling? Have most people been bogged down with the day-to-day tasks of being a busy educator? How can we continue to raise the bar and provide challenging and stimulating opportunities to take advantage of newly acquired skills?

Kirsten,
I have been through the history, I saw Jane used google earth, I know what Spraggy did even though he didn't post it, but that's it. That's why I asked about consistently.

Hi Sean,
There were a number of posts earlier from teachers which were very good. Take a view through the history part.
