Fostering a professional learning community in Qatar and beyond

Managing Change -- Scott Mcleod -- Dangerously Irrelevant

R at the forefront of a shifting change... Building a plane while flying it...continual turbulence...difficult but a must travel road.

The heart of change:

Shift paradigms - Define Initiative - Foster community buy-in - Deploy gradually 3-5 yrs - Develop long term support.

Mumbai here I come!... No, errrr... just kidding. But come back quick. We have a lot of 'work' to do before the end of school. I have a group of students that is very responsive to the teaching that has been going on in the class and I want to do some 'techno' work with them before they are done with me. Continue to enjoy your time and sharing your learning with us.

That was only the first 15 minutes of the presentation. It was point form note taking; nothing but the ning was working 4 me at the time. It is very busy here and I haven't had time to consolidate the sessions and make a more detailed post. I'm not quite the blogger Julie is... but I'm a learner and that's all it takes;-) Thanks 4 having a read...

Can u believe they are using laptops here with 4 year olds! They've had their growing pains and every year brings challenges for them, but always at the forefront is the purpose; which is the STUDENTS and their world of learning.

EX. At the beginning of this year no one in the elementary section was blogging one new teacher this year had done it at another school and introduced it to another colleague at the school. Then she shared...Now 9 out of 12 ES teachers are blogging with their classes for a variety of learning purposes. This is without any guidance from the tech coord or the principal; just a culture of sharing and recognition of a valuable tool. For a true mind shift to take place we all have valuable contributions to add no matter our official school role!

Hi Mike, very concise but I like the "plane" image - that's exactly what it feels like, you are leading and learning as you go...
