The last couple of weeks have been kind of mixed up. I'm thinking you and me and Robyn should meet before the next whole-group meeting, right?
I've found some interesting info on non-laptop devices in use in other schools.....

I've used geocaching in the past. This is a great approach to teaching many different concepts. It is something I would like to see more of in our Dept. in the future. Now..........if only our resource order from LAST YEAR would get here, with our shipment of GPS units..........then we'd be a bit closer to the goal! ;-)

Have you considered geocaching as a geography teaching tool? I always just thought it was a fun game, but apparently others have other ideas:
"Educators find geocaching to be a treasure trove of learning
Some educators are using "geocaching" -- GPS-based scavenger hunts -- to teach children about latitude and longitude, problem-solving, mapping and teamwork, said Cindy Gault, an instructional technology coordinator. "This could be a really cool school activity," added Janet LaMasters, who heads her school's computer science department. "It's fun for kids and teachers." eSchool News "
