Position at QA:
Primary School Librarian
Three things about me as an educator:
1.One of the highlights of my career was when a young child said, "It must be great to be a teacher - you get to learn something new every day!"
2. What I enjoy most is working with others, and sharing ideas.
3. I strive to see the whole child in every student.

In Praise of QA Educators

The thoughts shared by Julie in her blogs on the Dangerously Irrelevant Site and cross-posted on her own E-Learning Journeys blog http://123elearning.blogspot.com/ are inspiring, encouraging, interesting and empowering. The tools referred to are available to us all; the concepts are exciting and Julie’s enthusiasm is contagious. Julie’s overview of the privileged position in which we find ourselves as members of the Education City fraternity is clear and challenging. Julie’s blog post – “What’s… Continue

ECIS Triennial Librarians’ Conference, Berlin – Going Places 28 February to 2 March 2008

This was a gathering of librarians from schools across a wide geographical area. IB schools were in the majority. The emphasis on students’ research, information gathering and use, and the use of Web 2.0 tools in creating and sharing information was particularly pertinent, and gaining insight into current research, resources and practice in the field was very useful.

There was so much that was new and inspiring in today's sessions! Thank you to Kim, Julie and Mike for welcoming us on board and taking us with them on this journey. One of the things that I found interesting and reassuring was that we were introduced to some concepts and tools that were completely new to me, and I was intrigued by them, and look forward to exploring them further. Then there were others that I had come across, but I discovered aspects that I hadn't been aware of before; it made… Continue
