Tablet PC's and Wacom tablets in the classroom
Dear Friends,
It has been some time since I have posted anything on the Ning...so why not start a discussion. I found a pile of old Wacom USB drawing tablets in a storage room... dusted them off and moved them to the Art Department where two teachers have expressed an interest in exploring their uses within their subject area.
At the end of last year I reluctantly returned my MacBook. Unfortunately there were issues with software and compatability that made it difficult to use on a day to day basis within the classroom so I put my name on the list for a new HP Tablet PC and a wireless projector. My patience was rewarded and I did receive both the tablet and the wireless projector.
Not being the kind of person who waits for work to be done, I braved standing on a table, grabbed a screwdriver and took down the old projector from the ceiling mount. When I tried to mount the new projector I found that the mounting plate and holes did not line up... so an hour and a botched mounting plate later the projector was hanging from the ceiling and my classes no longer need to sit in the dark to look at the wall.
I am now looking forward to the start of the second term and exploring ways that my students can use the tablet to share designs with everyone via the projector. This will allow their peers to analyze their designs and provide a means for me as a teacher to work with their design and show possible changes and small improvements.
