Fostering a professional learning community in Qatar and beyond

I haven't had a chance to attend too much of the PD sessions going on, much to my regret. I wish I did- with all the going back and forth, organizing behind the scenes, and handling other school business, when I am in the PD room I'm always trying to pick up on what's already happened, and so I'm not getting the full benefit.
Not much to be done about it, sadly, but I can make a promise to continue building the QA library with works related to the learning offered by Bambi, Kim and the whole IT team. I've noted a couple of texts already, but I'm sure I'll miss many of the suggestions since I'm not in the rooms full time. So, if you heard a suggestion or have one of your own, please post it here!
And if you didn't know we have a PD library at QA, we do, and it's growing regularly. I usually request a book or two each month to be added to the collections. Check with Sudha, Nerine, Candy or Bev for more information about what's there.

Diana, thanks for reminding us about this valuable resource. There are a number of books mentioned by Kim and I gave Beverley a list at the start of the year. After this week I will go back and double check this...maybe we need to to order more than one copy of some of the key books that will be popular such as Will Richardson's 'Blogs, Wikis and Podcasts'.

Yes that would be great if you could order multiple copies. I went to Virgin megastores last night and there were a few copies of Thomas Friedman's book "The World is Flat' left, but there were very few tech books and definitely not Will Richardson's book, 'Blogs, Wikis and Podcasts."

Jane, Will's book will have to be ordered online from the USA....and now for some shameless self-promotion....read The World is Flat ppgs 501-503.

Hi Julie,
I think that the pages you mentioned are different according to the editions. I have the newly revised and expanded edition and those pages do not connect to you. Can you let me know the heading?

OK, The Flat Classroom Project with myself and colleague Vicki Davis are in the 4th edition, released July 2007 in the chapter 'if it's not happening, you're not doing it'. We are also in the index. :-)
